ZAG Airport Overview

The new Zagreb Airport terminal (code: ZAG) opened in 2017 and primarily handles European routes. Amenities include free WiFi and a few shops and eateries, though none are open 24 hours. Economy class passengers can pay to enter an airport lounge.

Sleeping in Zagreb Airport

Zagreb Airport is a reasonable place to sleep overnight, with quiet public areas, clean facilities and armrest-free benches where travellers can stretch out. Overnight sleeping is generally tolerated before security, but remaining airside overnight is uncertain. The main drawbacks are cold metal seating, occasional loud announcements and overnight cleaning noise, so bring warm layers and an eye mask. Airport Hours

The airport is open 24 hours.

The airport’s official comment about sleeping in the airport: “Yes, it is possible to stay overnight in the airport. Zagreb Airport is open 24 hours, 365 days/year. However, passengers can stay in the landside area, immediately before the body check. Once passengers get to the airport our employees at the Information desk will provide them with relevant information regarding conditions of overnight stay at the airport.”

Rest & Relaxation Zones

There are no officially designated quiet or dedicated rest zones. However, travellers have reported a small area with lounge-style chairs on the first floor landside (before security) that can be quieter in off-peak hours. If this information has changed, click here to update this guide.

No outlets are officially confirmed to operate 24 hours. In the main areas you can find options such as:

Drinking Water
There are water fountains/bottle-refill points in the departure area beyond security, and you can refill bottles after security screening.

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available throughout the terminal. Fees may apply, so check your bank’s withdrawal limits and travel policies in advance. Locations: Ground Floor • 2nd Floor.
Baby Care Facilities – Baby changing facilities are available in restrooms throughout the terminal.
Baggage Trolleys – Baggage trolleys are available in both International and Domestic Arrivals areas.
Chapel – A quiet chapel is available on the ground floor, located to the left. Hours are not published.
Children’s Play Area – Children’s play areas are available airside near Gates 12/13 and Gates 4/5.
Currency Exchange – ICE provides currency exchange services in the Departures and Arrivals halls. Operating hours generally follow flight schedules.
Duty-Free & Shopping – Aelia operates the duty-free shop. A small selection of other shops is also available, including a Tisak convenience shop in the Arrivals area.
Information Desk – Airport staff are available to assist travellers at the information desk on the ground floor.
Medical Services – Basic first aid services are available on the ground floor if you feel unwell or need assistance.
Postal Services – A mailbox is available for sending letters or postcards. Location: Landside, Ground Floor.
Smoking – Smoking is not permitted inside the terminal except in designated smoking booths located on the 2nd Floor of the International and Domestic Departure halls.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Buses

“Pleso prijevoz” airport shuttles offer scheduled service between the airport and Zagreb Central Bus Station. A one-way journey takes about 25 minutes. ZET (Zagreb Electrical Tram) line 290 runs between Kvaternik Square and Velika Gorica, stopping at Zagreb Airport and nearly 20 other stops along the way. Buses depart every 35 minutes in either direction.
