What to Expect
The small terminal at Townsville Airport (code: TSV) handles domestic flights. Amenities are limited to three eateries, two shops, massage chairs, and free WiFi.
Sleeping in Townsville Airport
This airport closes nightly, after the day’s last flight, until 5:00 AM, so overnight stays are impossible. For uninterrupted sleep, hotels are nearby. See the Airport Hotels section below for locations, or read traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.
Airport Hours
The airport is open from 4:30 AM – until after the last flight. It is not possible to sleep in the airport overnight.
Airport Sleeper Policy
The airport states on its website: “For security reasons, the Terminal is “locked down” between 11:00 PM and 4:30 AM and therefore passengers, and other persons, are not permitted to enter the Terminal during this time, nor sleep in the Terminal overnight. “

Family Services – Baby care facilities are located near the check-in counters, baggage claim, and ground floor arrivals/departures area of the terminal building. Feeding cubicles with change facilities are provided, as well as toilet facilities, a nappy disposal unit and a wash basin. There is a baby bottle warmer in the parent rooms.
Airport Shuttle
An airport shuttle is available every day of the week to pick up/drop off passengers to/from hotels or the Magnetic Island Ferry Terminal. Note, the shuttle must be booked in advance. Visit the airport shuttle website for more information.

Metered taxis are readily available for hire at a taxi rank in the airport’s Arrivals area. Each trip to and from the airport is subject to a $3.50 fee on top of the regular fare.
