MVD Airport Overview

carrasco airport guideTo help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Montevideo Carrasco International Airport.

What to Expect

Montevideo Airport (code: MVD) consists of a modern, small terminal with a few shops, eateries and other services. Travellers report that the airport and staff are highly efficient. WiFi and plenty of power outlets are available throughout the airport. Additional services and comforts—including showers—can be found through fee-based access to one of the airport’s first-class lounges. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for locations and rates.

Sleeping in Montevideo Airport

Travellers report good experiences sleeping in this airport, with accommodating staff, comfortable padded benches and limited noise. A third-floor terrace area has been cited for its seclusion and quiet, though travellers should bring insect repellent as the potted plants reportedly attract mosquitos. The terminal can also get cold, so consider bringing extra layers or a travel blanket if you intend to spend the night. There are hotels near the airport for uninterrupted sleep. See our Airport Hotels section below for locations, or read traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.  For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
