To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Manaus Airport (code: MAO).
What to Expect
Terminal 1 at Manaus Airport is the primary passenger terminal, handling domestic and international flights. You’ll find basic shopping and dining options, including several 24-hour eateries, both airside and landside. Showers are located in some bathrooms, and WiFi is free, at least for boarding pass holders. For added comfort while you wait, economy class passengers can pay to enter an airport lounge. Sleeping in Manaus Airport
Travellers report no issues camping out here but warn that seating could be much better. Bring a travel blanket and travel mat to cozy up on the floor. Drinking Water
A reader tells us, “There are water fountains explicitly labelled as drinkable, but they do not seem to be well cleaned. Because of that, I opted for bottled water that is cooled, cheap and sold by vending machines.” (September 2024)

A reader tells us 220V mobile charging outlets are in the International Terminal. (April 2023)
Showers
Showers are available in a few bathrooms.
WiFi / Internet
Free WiFi is available at Manaus Airport. A reader on Facebook tells us the service is “now free for boarding pass holders (you need to put in the barcode numbers to log in).”
More Airport Information
ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so check your bank’s fee schedule and daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Terminals 1 and 2.
Baby Care Facilities – Baby care facilities are available in Terminal 1.
Banking Services – Banco do Brasil. Location: T1, Arrivals lobby. Hours: 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM (Wed – Fri only).
Currency Exchange – União Alternativa de Câmbio – Location: Terminal 1, Arrivals – Hours: open 24 hours.
Duty-Free & Shopping – Duty-free shopping is available (one of which is open 24 hours), along with various shops selling books, souvenirs, jewelry and other items. A few shops are open 24 hours!
Information Desk – Location: Close to the Main Entrance, Terminal 1 and 2. Hours: open 24 hours.
Luggage Wrapping – TrueStar offers luggage wrapping service during flight check-ins in the Terminal 1 Check-In area.
Medical Services – Provided at the medical center. Location: 1st Basement Level. Hours: 24 hours.
Pharmacy – Drogaria Flexfarma. Location: T1, Boarding Lounge. Hours: Open 24 hours.
SIM Cards – A reader tells us, “You can buy [SIM Cards] in Brazil but you can’t activate without Brazilian identification number. Best buy an international eSim online.” (November 2022)
Travel Agencies – If you are arriving in Manaus and need local arrangements or help planning a last-minute trip abroad, there are several travel agencies with offices that can probably be of assistance. Amazone Explorers, Tucunaré Turismo and TopTur are available.
Bus
There are two buses which serve the Manaus airport. One runs from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM and again from 9:00 PM – 2:00 AM, while the other operates 24 hours daily. At the time of this update, no further information is known.
