What to Expect

lviv airport guideThe small, modern Terminal A at Lviv Airport (code: LWO) opened in 2012. The older Terminal 1 is not currently in use. There are a few eateries and shops, including two 24-hour eateries, one airside and one landside. Free WiFi may be available. Otherwise, head to one of two airport lounges, which economy class passengers can pay to enter. One lounge has shower facilities, too. Sleeping in Lviv Airport

Details are limited, but a reviewer tells us there is seating without armrests.   There are also hotels near the airport. See the Airport Hotels section below for locations, or read traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.

Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships

Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there are lounges that you can enter by paying at the door. Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and learn how to gain access with just an economy class ticket!

  • International Business Lounge – Location: International Departures, Airside, 3rd Floor. Lounge Access: Pay at Door • Prepaid lounge pass.

Food & Drinks

Cafe Chao is open 24 hours a day in two locations (Ground Floor (landside) and 2nd Floor (International Departures lounge). Chao Fourchette is also open 24 hours on the 2nd Floor (International Departures lounge). Veronica Restaurant is open from 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM on the 2nd Floor (International Departures lounge).

Luggage Storage & Lockers

Left luggage storage is available for 10 UAH per bag/hour. Location: Terminal A, landside, 1st Floor / Arrivals Area (in front of the information desk). Hours: Open 24 hours.

More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so check your bank’s fee schedule and daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside, opposite airport entrance • Airside, 2nd Level.

Currency Exchange – First Ukrainian Bank offers full-service banking and currency exchange. Location: unknown. Hours: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (banking hours / available Mon-Fri only) • 9:00 AM – 9:30 PM (currency exchange only – daily).

Duty-Free & Shopping – Baltona and Pavo Duty-Free shopping are available. Hours: unknown. The airport also offers a Press Shop (Location: unknown. Hours: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM) and a Lviv Handmade Chocolate shop (Location: unknown. Hours: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM).

Family Services – If you are travelling with small children, the following services may be of interest to you:

  • Mother and Child Room – Fitted with a baby changing table, a couch and a feeding chair. Location: Terminal A, Ground Floor.
  • Children’s Play Area – When you want to ensure your kids burn off all their energy before their flight, take them to the children’s play area, which also includes plenty of seats for adults. Terminal A, 3rd Floor.

Information Desk – If you have any questions, visit the airport information desk for assistance. Location: at the main entrance, 1st floor.

Luggage Wrapping – Protect your bags from theft and damage by having them wrapped in plastic. Rate: unknown. Location: Terminal A, landside, before the International check-in counters. Hours: Open 24 hours.

Medical Services – If you feel unwell or injure yourself, first aid services are available. Location: 1st Floor, beside customs.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Bus

Bus 48 runs between the airport (new terminal) and Svobody Ave, making several stops. Fare: 5 UAH one way.

Trolleybus 9 runs between the airport (old terminal) and Ivan Franko University in the city center, making five stops. Fare: 5 UAH one way.

An Airport Express – Railway Station connecter is also available. Fare: 20 UAH one way.
