What to expect

Los Cabos Airport (code: SJD) has three terminals with four concourses. The airport’s current configuration has Terminal 1 serving all domestic operations and some international. Termina 2 serves International flights only. Terminal 3 is reportedly under renovation, with plans to join it to a fourth terminal. The airport features a decent selection of eateries and shops on both sides of security. All of these services are closed down overnight, so plan accordingly. WiFi is available, and there are reportedly plenty of outlets for charging mobile devices. Additional comfort can be found through fee-based access to one of the airport’s first-class lounges.

At the time of this update, there are no 24-hour dining options. Food outlets are available both landside and airside. Hours vary by location; some open as early as 4:00 AM (including Wings in Terminal 1 and options in the food court and Domestic Arrivals). Most restaurants close by around 7:00 PM.

Security & Safety

Sleeping in any airport can include a certain level of risk, especially when travelling alone. It’s important to take certain precautions to ensure your safety and the security of your valuables. Here are a few tips:

Safety First. It’s a good idea to know where the security office is located and look for video cameras where you plan to sleep. You can also ask the security personnel for advice on the safest places to spend the night.
Don’t Seclude Yourself. If you’re travelling alone, we recommend you stay near other travellers or close to security. This will help you feel more secure and deter potential thieves.
Hide Your Valuables. It’s also important to hide your valuables. Don’t leave them out in plain view, as this could make you a target for theft. Additionally, if you are a deep sleeper, you may want to padlock your bag to something or sleep with your bag up against a wall to make it harder for someone to access zippers and pockets. We have received reports of sleepers who woke up without their phones and laptop bags. The travellers were left with just their headphones and laptop bag strap.
Stay Alert. It’s best to stay alert and awake if you feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Drink coffee or other caffeinated beverages to help you stay awake, and remember that you can always catch up on sleep during your flight. These simple precautions can help you enjoy a safe night at the airport.

ATMs / Cash Machines – ATMs are available and operated by Banamex, Bancomer/BBVA, Banorte, Cardtronics, HSBC, and Scotiabank. Fees may apply. Locations include Terminal 1 (landside and International Arrivals), Terminal 2 (landside), and Terminal 3 (landside).

Conference Facilities – Meeting space may be available through the VIP Lounge in Terminal 2.

Currency Exchange – Globo Cambio offers foreign currency exchange in landside and International Arrivals areas of Terminals 1 and 2. Hours: approximately 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM.

Duty-Free & Shopping – Retail shops and duty-free outlets are available. Most shops operate on varying schedules and typically close between about 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Two mini markets are available, one landside and one airside near Gate 3.

Family Services – Baby changing tables are available in some restrooms. A children’s play area is located in the public areas of the terminal.

Medical Services – Urgent and emergency medical services are available 24 hours a day. Contact airport staff for assistance.

A shuttle (Shuttle in Cabo) is outside Terminals 1 and 2 at the domestic and international arrivals halls. It can be booked online in advance. Services are available 24 hours.
