BGR Airport Overview

bangor airport guideTo help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Bangor International Airport.

What to Expect

Bangor Airport (code: BGR) is a small two-terminal (Domestic and International) airport with a few shops and a restaurant and cafe in the domestic terminal. However, they are known to close early in the evening. Inclement weather can lead to flight delays and/or cancellations. Free WiFi and mobile charging stations are available in the Domestic Terminal. There are no private lounges at this airport.

Sleeping in Bangor Airport

While the airport officially closes at 1:00 AM, airport staff are described as friendly and accommodating to overnight sleepers. There is reportedly a lack of armrest-free seating, so most travellers sleep on the floor. Reviewers report that loud overhead announcements and CNN broadcasting TVs continue throughout the night. With these factors in mind, consider bringing a sleeping bag, travel mat, eyeshade, and earplugs/noise-cancelling earphones. For uninterrupted sleep, a hotel is connected to the airport via a walkway, and others are within a quick shuttle ride away. See Airport Hotels in the guide below or read traveller airport reviews for more tips.

Good to Know

As all services close down after the last flight rolls in, travellers may want to take advantage of the within-walking-distance shops, fast food restaurants and a grocery store.
