To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Palma de Mallorca Airport.
What to Expect
Palma de Mallorca Airport (code: PMI) is a large, modern, four-level terminal with four “modules” (A-D) and a combined 88 gates. Module A is primarily used for non-Schengen flights but is closed during the winter months. Module B, the smallest of the terminals, mainly operates regional flights. Module C primarily handles Schengen flights, and Module D serves a mixture. Note that while entry to the modules is on level 4, actual boarding may be on a lower level, so pay attention to the signs. There is a large variety of eateries and shops in the airport. However, many are located on the landside, so consider any food or shopping needs before going through security. WiFi is available to help pass the time. There are mobile charging stations, but one reader indicated that not all of them work. Sleeping in Palma de Mallorca Airport
Most travellers who have slept overnight in this airport have reported safe and quiet conditions. Armrest-free seating is said to be hard to find. Some reviewers found the seating hard and recommended a travel mat and/or sleeping bag for additional comfort. Some travellers recommend the airport’s “terrace,” a large open-air smoking area on the upper level, as a comfortable and quiet sleeping spot when the weather is nice. ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so check your bank’s fee schedule and daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside and Airside.

Currency Exchange – Best and Fast Change offers currency exchange services. Location: Ground floor, Baggage reclaim hall (Hours: 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM) • Module A, Floor 1, Boarding • Floor 2, Check-in. (Hours: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM).

Duty-Free & Shopping – Duty-Free is available in four locations; the one on Floor 4, Departures, Airside, is open 24 hours a day in the high season. The airport also offers a selection of shops selling everything from clothing to sunglasses. The Market (temporarily closed due to Covid) sells snacks and drinks. Location: Landside. Hours: 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM. Note: many shops are closed (or operated on reduced hours) for the winter season (approximately November – March).
Fast Track Service – As a premium service, customers with Fast Track security passes will be given priority service to keep waiting to a minimum. Passes are sold online for €5.80.
Food & Drinks – While there are many food and beverage concessions at the airport, only one option is open 24 hours: Espression Lavazza (Floor 4, Departures, Airside). Note: many restaurants are closed for the winter season (approximately November – March).
Information Desk – The airport offers 6 Information Desks. Arrivals and Departures each offer one; two locations are available in the Check-in Area and one each in Module C and Module D, Boarding.
Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.
Medical Services – Available at the 24/7 First Aid Station. Location: Floor 2, Check-in Area.
Mobile Charging – Approx. 30 mobile charging zones are available, but a reader warned that not all of them work. (July 2018)
Pharmacy – Location: Departures, Floor 2, Landside. Hours: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Low Season) or 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM (High Season).
Postal Services – Drop off your last-minute postcards at the airport’s mailbox. Location: Floor 2, Check-in area.
Showers – Not available.
SIM Cards – A reader tells us, “[I] asked around for sim cards but could not find anywhere in the airport in arrivals nor departures, appears you have to go to a mobile shop in Palma.” (October 2022)
Travel Agencies – Need to make last-minute travel arrangements? Visit Europalia (Landside, Arrivals Hall) or Alltours Flugreisen (Landside, Arrival Hall and Departures Hall, Floor 2).
WiFi/Internet – Free unlimited WiFi is available at Palma de Majorca Airport. Connect to the “kubiwireless” network. (SSID: Airport_Free_Wifi_AENA). You will be required to enter your information and watch a few commercials, but the WiFi is fast enough to stream movies.
Additionally, you can also find 22 coin-operated internet kiosks in the public and secure areas of the terminal. A few locations in the public area have printers so that you can print your boarding passes.
Bus
PMI airport is well connected to public transportation, offering two local city bus options and four intercity buses that link the airport to different areas of the island. For fares, routes and schedules, visit the Palma de Mallorca Airport website.
Car Rentals
The following car rental agencies are located in the Arrivals area of the terminal: Avis, Budget, Enterprise/Alamo/National, Europcar/Interrent, Goldcar, Hertz/Thrifty, Record Go and Sixt.

Taxi
Metered taxis are readily available from the taxi rank outside the Arrivals area. For safety reasons, do not accept unsolicited ride offers from taxi drivers outside the airport’s designated taxi rank. As of this update, the initial fare is €3.12 with €1.08 per km charged from 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM (prices increase for evenings/holidays) plus a €2,90 airport surcharge.
