I was pained when I had to take a flight out of Vnukovo to the interiors of Russia, but the horrors of Sheremetovo would make Vnukovo's smokey, filthiness seem not all that bad. Anyways, I travelled recently thru Vnukovo and, they had a new airport made: a. its connected to the city by a overhead high-speed metro b. its CLEAN... So I decided to spend a night there on the way back. It was must say nicer than camping out at Domodedovo or for that matter Heathrow.
The security personnel were actually nice(this is in Russia) and they were not very bothered that I was crashing out at the airport. There just one caf that worked thru the night, some of em closed down. But the place was clean and the grub was goodand not very expensive
There was free Wi-Fi but you get disconnected every 20-30 minutes, buy a card for 5 dollars and use without interruptions
The seats in the international terminal b are ok to sleep on. No handrests, but rather hard seats.
Announcements are annoyingtoo loud and too frequent
TV ads too loud
I couldnt find showers though the Tajik cleaning lady told me there are new showers and they are at one end of the terminal. Costs 250 rubles(~10)
But I didnt face the usual problems, overall the airport has improved and Vnukovo is the best bet, followed by domodedovo if youre looking to save a quick buck while waiting for a plane
