At 2am the security woke me up anyway to check my air ticket and guide me to the general landside hall, where two homeless people were already sleeping.  The security lady wasn’t rude to me, but she gestured her colleagues she thinks I’m a bit crazy. – tinkole

To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport.

What to Expect

The busy Málaga Airport (code: AGP) currently operates two terminals: Terminal 2, which has undergone recent renovations, and Terminal 3, which was opened in 2010. You’ll find a variety of eateries, cafes, and shops, including three eateries that are open 24 hours in Terminal 3. Free WiFi helps pass the time. For added comfort while you wait, economy class passengers can pay to enter an airport lounge. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for location and access information.

Sleeping in Malaga Airport

Travellers who spend the night here will have to stay landside, even if you’re already airside. Reviews indicate that Terminal 3 is more comfortable for resting, particularly behind the Burger King, around the baggage claim, or near the ground-floor bathrooms where benches and power outlets are located. Terminal 2 is busier and has no benches or chairs, so you’ll likely need a sleeping bag or blanket for the floor. Temperatures fluctuate from hot to cold, so dress in layers. For uninterrupted sleep, hotels are nearby. See the Airport Hotels section below for locations or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

To help us keep this guide up-to-date, you can add or update information or write a review to submit airport tips and photos. You can also visit the airport’s web site for current information.  For more airport information continue scrolling down to explore more in our Malaga Airport Guide.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.  For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
