I was rudely awakened from a deep sleep by the tapping (striking?!) of a baton on my shoulder by one of these guys, shouting at me in Swedish. – Eric

GOT Airport Overview

To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Göteborg Landvetter Airport (code: GOT).

What to Expect

goteborg landvetter airport guideLandvetter Aairport’s two separate terminals were joined in 2014 with a main-floor check-in area and upper-level international and domestic departure areas on either side. There are several shops, cafes and a restaurant accessible to all passengers in the transfer area between the old terminals and some shops, cafes and services landside. The airport offers free WiFi, which helps pass the time. Economy-class passengers can pay to use one of the first-class airport lounges. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for locations and rates.

Sleeping in Landvetter Airport

Airport staff and security are described as accommodating to overnight sleepers. Most travellers suggest the domestic departures area is more conducive to sleep due to fewer people at night and more comfortable seating, including comfortable benches. Comfy and roomy couches were spotted in front of the Scandic Hotel (July 2023). Noise and cold temperatures were cited as the biggest sleep disturbers, so earplugs/noise-cancelling headphones and a sweater or travel blanket are recommended. For uninterrupted sleep, there is a hotel within walking distance. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info, or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

To help us keep this guide up-to-date, you can add or update information or write a review to submit airport tips and photos. You can also visit the airport’s website for current information. For more airport information, continue scrolling down to explore more in our Landvetter Airport Guide.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.  For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
