Sleeping in Airports

Pointe-a-Pitre Airport Guide

Whether you have a layover, overnight sleepover or you are just quickly passing through, our Pointe-a-Pitre Airport Guide is a great place to start planning your visit.  Here, you’ll find information on services and facilities available inside the airport – including details about airport lounges, WiFi, mobile charging points, lockers, 24-hour food options, nearby hotels, and everything in between.

Overnight, the airport is quiet, empty, well lit, clean and safe. I’m a woman travelling alone and I felt totally fine. (I chose to sleep on the middle level near the children’s play zone.) – a traveller

PTP Airport Overview

pointe a pitre airport guideTo help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Pointe-a-Pitre International Airport.

What to Expect

Pointe-a-Pitre Airport (code: PTP) consists of two small terminals (T1-Main and the newer T2-Regional) with a dozen or so shops and eateries located primarily in T1. WiFi is available, but power outlets are reportedly hard to find. The air-conditioning keeps the terminal chilly, so have a sweater or travel blanket handy to stay warm! Additional comfort can be found through fee-based access to the airport’s first-class lounge. See Airport Lounges in the guide below.

Sleeping in Pointe-a-Pitre Airport

We don’t have many sleep-related reviews for this airport, but a very helpful reader sent us this:

“Comfort level is ok – you’ll be sleeping on metal bench seats with arched dividers between every other seat. Late night, the climate inside, ironically, gets both a bit chilly (from the AC) and more humid. I didn’t have a sleeping bag, but switching out of my shorts and into a light sweater and pants kept me warm enough. Used a towel as my pillow. ”

For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport.  See our Airport Hotels section below for locations, or read traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.  For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
