Kuala Lumpur International Airport

Lasting Impressions....

Memorable comments left by travellers:

"just as we'd set up we were told the whole terminal building would be closed until 4 because they were spraying for bugs!" (Herodotus)

"But 12 hours later on a long haul to LAX when the food poisoning diarrhea set in, my opinion changed BIG TIME!! Five uncomfortable days later and notwithstanding the side effects of the antibiotics, things are settling down." (?)

"The nice thing about KLIA is that it is a white elephant trying desperately to be another Changi Airport, the passenger numbers are about 25% of its capacity so its relatively peaceful." (?)

"Many thanks to previous writers to informed me about the Plaza Business Lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. " (Larina)

"KLIA is one of the best airports I have had the pleasure to pass through, the only one to come close is the new Hong Kong. " (A Visitor)

FEATURED REVIEWS

International
by Natasha
"We were in Kuala Lumpur airport for 13 hours in transit, from 5am to 6pm. Too tired to leave the airport for the day, so found some thin-cushioned armless seating in a lovely, quiet wing of the airport. This served very well as a sleeping area - until a couple of Mzungus (fellow caucasians) wandered in, ignored the rest of the huge, empty seating space and decided to park themselves on the cushions right next to our heads and yabber away loudly and incessantly. We moved away from them (after casting them some dark looks), but by then the airport was waking up, early morning passengers arriving and regular announcements trumpeting through the air. Then we remembered advice from your website: Kuala Lumpur International airport offers a lounge ("Plaza Premium Lounge") on the mezzanine level, which for the cost of RM80 each (approx. AU35 at the time) provides a number of great facilities and ends up being excellent value. The fee includes 5 hours free use of: very decent food (breakfast until 11am, lunch and dinner after that) & drinks (iced tea, soft drinks, Nescafe coffee - blerrgggh - and, get this: limitless beer!!). It also offers fast internet, a massage chair (when you can get a chance in it), showers (with towel), free local calls, reading matter and comfortable armchairs (though nothing you can stretch out and sleep on). They even offer golf putting, though so far I haven't spotted the green ...Considering the amount of money you'd end up parting with over 13 hours in an airport, I reckon the RM80 was well spent as we didn't have to buy anything more."

Low Cost Terminal
by Kiwi Pete
"New airport, very basic. Whilst I did not sleep over, such a thing would be impossible here, too noisy and basically nowhere. The only seats are normal plastic seats in the departure area, no hope of lying down.As it is a "Low Cost Carrier" terminal, expect nothing in the way of comfort. There is a Maccas for a sit down feed if ya desperate........ LOL.My time was spent reading, and walking around. You have to walk out onto the tarmac and climb gangway to get on board your plane.DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER SLEEPING HERE."
