"The passenger holding barns--not the terminal, that's
something else--at Nuweiba, Egypt. There are (I think) 4 ferries
daily from here to Aqaba, Jordan; the first leaves at 12:30 PM,
but you need to start the Customs/Immigration process at 7:30
AM. So, if coming from Cairo, you leave the afternoon before and
spend the night crossing the very cold Sinai on an unheated bus,
arriving here at 3:00 AM. You are not alone, however; there are
people all over the place! Women go to the family barn; men go
to the men's barn. The wooden benches are at least wide enough
to sleep on, but bring blankets: the buildings are unheated. I
think I remember a TV, but it couldn't have been too loud. There
are squat toilets, not too clean. Hot tea and biscuits can be
purchased from a small kiosk. Minimal security, but I didn't
feel threatened in any way; safe for women travelling
alone."
